U.S. stocks closed higher, with the tech-heavy Nasdaq Composite Index charting a new all-time high, as investors snatched up proven winners and companies that stand to benefit as the coronavirus pandemic continues to keep the economy from its full potential. The Dow Jones Industrial Average DJIA, +0.16% added 47 points, 0.2%, to close near 27,740, while the S&P 500 SPX, +0.31% came just short of a fresh record, adding about 11 points to close near 3,386, up 0.3%. The Nasdaq COMP, +1.06% jumped 118 points, 1.1%, to close near 11,265, its 35th record of the year.
